The Official Website of Stephenie Meyer

Hope your new years have all started off right. A few unrelated things:
- I've been very impressed with the world in general and the Twilight fansites in specific in the support and love everyone is giving Haiti. It's amazing to see how Twilight fans have come together to help. You are wonderful people. At this point, I think it's important for all of us to remember that the situation in Haiti is not going to be cured overnight, so... keep up the good work, and let's all keep the Haitians in our thoughts and prayers.
- A new book recommendation: I recently read and adored The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. It was one of those books that feel absolutely perfect and satisfying, and when you finish it you sit around wishing that you could find another book just like it.
- I realized that there was an egregious oversight on my music recommendation page. How have I never listed Metric? That's crazy. Anyway, Fantasies was one of the best albums of 2009.
- Finally, a movie recommendation: Dear John comes out Friday the fifth of February. Thanks to my cool friend Wyck (who many of you have seen in various Twilight Saga interviews, as he is one of the producers on our movies, and who is a producer on Dear John) I got to see this one early. I will confess, I cried. Also, I discovered Channing Tatum, who I’ve somehow missed until now. Likey. Lots. Amanda Seyfried is entrancing as always, and the chemistry (chemistry is always the crux of a movie for me) between them is lovely. Though the chemistry between Channing Tatum and Richard Jenkins (who plays his father) was my favorite part.
Have a great week!

Here is a press release from Hachette Book Group which was released just a few minutes ago:
YEN PRESS ANNOUNCES TWILIGHT: THE GRAPHIC NOVEL, VOL. 1 WILL GO ON-SALE ON MARCH 16, 2010
NEW YORK, NY (January 20, 2010) — Yen Press, the graphic novel imprint of Hachette Book Group, announced that it will publish the highly-anticipated first volume in the graphic novel adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight on March 16, 2010. Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Volume 1 will be released in hardcover for $19.99 ($22.99 CAN) with a first printing of 350,000 copies. As is typical in graphic novel publishing, due to the length of the prose novel, the book will be divided into two volumes and the release date for the second volume is forthcoming.
Twilight: The Graphic Novel contains selected text from Meyer's original novel with illustrations by Korean artist Young Kim. A rare fusion of Asian and Western comic techniques is reflected in this black-and-white graphic novel with color interspersed throughout. Meyer consulted throughout the artistic process and had input on every panel.
"I've enjoyed working on this new interpretation of Twilight," said Meyer. "Young has done an incredible job transforming the words that I have written into beautiful images. The characters and settings are very close to what I was imagining while writing the series."
Kurt Hassler, Yen Press Publishing Director, said, "Few American publishing properties are better suited to introduce a vast readership to the medium of graphic novel than the phenomenon that is Stephenie Meyer's Twilight. Yen Press will certainly continue to expand this audience with the help of Bella and Edward."
In four years, Stephenie Meyer has become a worldwide publishing phenomenon. The Twilight Saga’s translation rights have been sold in nearly 50 countries and 85 million copies have been sold worldwide.

Just a quick note on the subject of the Breaking Dawn film: there is no drama over whether the book should be one movie or two. My personal feeling is that it would be very difficult to cram the whole story into one movie (as I've said in many interviews previous to this), but if a great way of doing that surfaces, I'm all for it. Two or one, whichever way fits the story best is fine by me, and everyone I've spoken with at Summit seems to feel the same way. We're all excited to move forward on this, and we are slowly and surely getting there. I know people are anxious for news, and so sometimes gossip gets fabricated to stir things up, but there's no basis to this particular story.

I hope you all are enjoying your holidays! Just a quick update about a book—arriving in bookstores tomorrow!—that I'm very excited about: The Lonely Hearts Club by Elizabeth Eulberg. If you've ever been out to one of my signings, chances are you've already met this debut author. If you haven't, but you've read the acknowledgements in any of my books, you've been introduced to her there. Elizabeth has been the publicist for my books from the very beginning, and has (clearly) done an amazing job. She's also worked with scads of other YA authors. Now her own YA novel is coming out and I'm so proud of her. Well done, Lizzy! I look forward to reading more from you soon!

A big congratulations to everyone involved with creating the awesome Twilight Original Motion Picture Soundtrack! The Grammy nomination is fantastic and also well-deserved. It is an honor to have such talented artists and bands contributing to the Twilight film. Congrats also to Alex Patsavas for doing such an inspired job of bringing them all together.
Thanks,
Stephenie

Hey everybody. I just received a call from Stephenie and she wanted me to let everyone know that, contrary to some rumors that have recently started circulating, she is alive and well.
Have a great day.

Congratulations to Stephenie on a job well done on The Oprah Winfrey Show yesterday! As Stephenie predicted, the logistics of Oprah's audience in combination with the time constraints did not allow for very many new questions. Most of our site visitors probably already knew the answers to the questions that were posed. But, on Oprah's website are two clips of bonus material (direct link to clip #2) that feature several minutes of different questions which were not covered during the TV interview.
Also—just in case you have been hiding under a rock and/or you have recently been abducted (or hosted) by aliens—New Moon hits theaters in about 5 days and a couple of hours. And, Monday (November 16th) is the New Moon premiere in Hollywood. I wanted to make sure that everybody knows that the premiere event (not the movie) is going to be streamed live by MySpace.com on Monday evening. You can go to that link at 6:00pm PST to check out the celebrities as they arrive at the red carpet.
And finally, for those of you who are waiting patiently for your questions to be answered, Stephenie's answers to TheTwilightSaga.com's Q & A will be posted on our site on Monday afternoon (a few hours before the premiere coverage starts).

Hi everybody!
I wanted to apprise you all of a few upcoming things.
You know I've been doing the hermit thing this last year, in so far as media is concerned, and I'm not changing that now, but I am making an exception. I'm doing this for a good reason: I am so pleased and amazed and thrilled with what Chris Weitz has done with New Moon that I want to talk about it, and to show my support for him. And since I'm only doing one interview, better make it big. Really big. So....I will be on The Oprah Winfrey Show on Friday, November 13th. Check the local listings on Oprah's website to find out what time it will be on where you live.
Of course, most of the questions for Oprah will be designed for a broader audience than just die-hard Twilight fans, and I imagine people who read this site and other fansites will already know most of the answers. To rectify this, I'm going to answer your more specific questions on-line. The official Twilight Saga website (www.TheTwilightSaga.com) will be taking any New Moon movie-related questions you might have for me, and then I'll answer those most frequently asked. I'll post the answers on the Twilight Saga website and also here on my own site. Questions can be submitted to TheTwilightSaga.com from noon (Eastern Standard Time) on Monday, November 9th through noon Tuesday, November 10th. The answers will be posted Monday, November 16th—or New Moon Premiere Day, as it is known around my house. (Details about submitting the questions will be posted first thing Monday morning at TheTwilightSaga.com, you can also get more information below.)
I'm so very excited that you'll all get to see New Moon in just two weeks! Then you'll see what I'm going on about. Until then, think up some good questions for me.
Love,
Steph

I received the following message from Atlantic Records today:
Due to overwhelming and unprecedented demand, Chop Shop/Atlantic Records have announced a new release date for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK
. By far the most anticipated soundtrack of the year, the compilation will now be released this Friday, October 16th, four days earlier than originally scheduled! If you have pre-ordered the album, you can expect it to arrive on that date or shortly afterwards.
In addition, we would like to exclusively announce that in the physical CDs, the booklet folds out into a poster! The image is below. Make sure to head out on Friday to get your copy of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON Soundtrack!

Hey. I hope everyone had a great weekend.
Stephenie's publishers asked me to remind everyone that there are a few new editions and titles going on sale in the next few days:
- The first one actually has been on sale for about three weeks already (I forgot to post a reminder...sorry): The Twilight Saga: New Moon Movie Tie-in
. This is no different from the original New Moon except for the cool cover art.[Edit: The Movie Tie-in comes with some cool cover art and a collectible full-color, fold-out movie poster. One more mistake to add to the list.]
- The second goes on sale tomorrow, October 6, 2009: The Twilight Saga: New Moon--The Official Illustrated Movie Companion
. I have not seen this book yet, but the Twilight edition was very impressive. It is a great way to get even more excited about the movie (only 45 days left!)
- Finally, next week (October 13th) we have two more items going on sale: New Moon Collector's Edition
(to match the Twilight Collector's Edition) and The Twilight Journals
, both of which would make good gifts, in my opinion.
If at any time in the future you would like to find one of these titles or even one of Stephenie's recommendations, you can go to our Amazon aStore. Everything is in one place, and I do my best to keep it up-to-date.

Hey guys, great news! The Host is on its way to the big screen:
Variety.com: "Twilight's Meyer..."
I'm so excited to be working with Nick Wechsler, and Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz to bring The Host to a visual format. They've all been a dream to work with, so lovely and collaborative, and I feel like we're in a really good place to make a great movie together. And then to have Andrew Niccol writing and directing? Truly awesome. If you've never seen Gattaca, go watch it now. One of my favorite movies of all time. It's such a great example of character driven science fiction, which is ideal for The Host, no? I'm having an absolute blast imagining different dream casts, which I would post if people didn't take my silly blogs so seriously these days. I'm looking forward to seeing the cast lists you come up with in the fansite forums, and if any of them match mine.
So, very exciting. Yay Host!
XO

Hi. I hope everyone is having a great week.
It has come to my attention through several concerned emails that many popular websites like MySpace and Facebook are displaying ads offering a chance to win Midnight Sun. This is a hoax. I would advise against giving out any personal information or even clicking on the links.
That is my 'tip of the day' from your friendly neighborhood webmaster. On a more exciting note, we only have to wait 71 more days until New Moon the movie hits theaters! In case you don't want to have to count the days on your calendar (like I just did) every time you think about Edward and Jacob, I've added a countdown widget to the New Moon Movie page (right side).

We are excited to announce that the much anticipated The Host apparel and skateboards are now available for sale at the Hobo Skate Company website. A portion of all proceeds go to the homeless.
We hope you love the designs as much we do!

I just received the following announcement from Atlantic Records (the record label that produced the Twilight Soundtrack):
The first single has officially been confirmed for the New Moon Soundtrack! Death Cab for Cutie has written an exclusive song for the movie entitled 'Meet Me On the Equinox.' Below is a statement from the band about the song:
"We are very excited to be a part of this amazing series of novels set in our own backyard. It just seemed a perfect synergy that a band from the Northwest would create a song for a series of novels set in the Northwest. We wrote 'Meet Me On the Equinox' to reflect the celestial themes and motifs that run throughout the Twilight series and we wanted to capture that desperate feeling of endings and beginnings that so strongly affect the main characters. This song marks the first attempt that Death Cab for Cutie has ever made at contributing new, unreleased material for a film and we are proud to be a part of the Twilight legacy." — Nick Harmer / Death Cab for Cutie
Additionally, we have the exclusive premiere of the soundtrack album cover below! The soundtrack will be in stores on October 20th, 2009, stay tuned for more information!

You can pre-order the New Moon Soundtrack now, and we will be posting more artist information as it becomes available. And, if you need some ideas for things to purchase to qualify for free shipping (over $25), I would suggest the Breaking Dawn Special Edition
and the Eclipse paperback
, which both went on-sale this month.
Have a great day!
